Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Want to buy a used car from Japan?

Then you must need to know the freight charges, it is important while importing any Japanese used cars, machineries, buses, bikes, trucks or auto parts to check what are the shipping charges to be paid along with the vehicle cost. Some time the charges for the shipment may be too much comparing with the vehicle or machinery you are buying.

Most of the dealers provide their shipping rates applicable to different countries at their relevant sites itself, so that buyers or importers of these used vehicles can decide immediately and can place the order. However still for confirmation and for negotiation they do ask the dealers again by sending emails with their requirement.

All these charges are basically based on M3 sizes (Cubic Volume of the Vehicle). Every vehicle type having different M3 sizes, which effect the shipping cost as well. More the M3 size, more will be the shipping cost. Most of the buyers, import their required used vehicles in bulk manner so that they can minimize the shipping cost.

To calculate shipping cost to your country you must need to know 2 main things as M3 size of the vehicle & Rate of per M3 size.

Please check the M3 Sizes of different types of vehicles:

  • Car: 9.5 M3
  • Sedan: 9.5 M3
  • Coupe: 9 M3
  • Hatchback: 10 M3
  • Trucks: 33 M3
  • Wagons: 13 M3
  • Pickup: 15 M3
  • SUV: 15 M3
  • MUV: 15 M3

Some of the M3 sizes of different models:

  • Toyota Corolla: 9.5 M3
  • Toyota RAV4: 17 M3
  • Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: 17 M3
  • Starlet: 9 M3
  • Mitsubishi Pajero: 17 M3
  • Toyota Hiace:16 M3

Some of the Rates per M3 sizes for different shipping ports:

  • Ghana, Tema > US$ 150 per M3
  • Cameroon, Douala > US$ 125 per M3
  • Nigeria, Lagos > US$ 125 per M3
  • Uganda, Mombasa > US$ 106 per M3
  • Jamaica, Kingston > US$ 120 per M3
  • Trinidad & Tobago, Port of Spain > US$ 140.00 per M3
  • Russia, Vladivostok > US$ 69.00 per M3
  • Kenya, Mombassa > US$ 95.00 per M3

  • South Africa, Durban > US$ 85.00 per M3
  • Malawi, Dar-es-Salaam > US$ 105.00 per M3
  • Sri Lanka, Colombo > > US$ 55.00 per M3
  • UAE, Duabi > US$ 60.00 per M3
  • UAE, Abu Dhabi > US$ 60.00 per M3
  • UAE, Sharjah > US$ 60.00 per M3
  • Saudi Arabia, Dammam > US$ 96.00 per M3
  • Australia, Brisbane > US$ 70.00 per M3

The total amount can be figured with the following ways:

M3 OF VEHICLE X M3 RATE IN US$ = FREIGHT

For Example, if you want to find out FREIGHT for a sedan car, which is to be imported from Japan to Australia - Brisbane Port.

Size of Sedan Car = 09.5 M3
Freight Charges = US$ 63 Per M3

Mazda i-stop Wins 2010 RJC Technology of the Year Award

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation announced today that its unique idling stop system, i-stop, has won the 2010 Automotive Researchers’ and Journalists’ Conference of Japan (RJC) Technology of the Year award.

7
Mazda Axela 20S i-stop model

Idling stop systems reduce fuel consumption by automatically shutting down the engine when the driver stops the vehicle. Mazda’s i-stop system is fitted to direct injection engines and uses combustion energy to restart the engine in just 0.35 seconds, about half the time necessary for most other competing systems. The i-stop system also suppresses noise and vibration as the engine shuts down and restarts, ensuring that drivers experience a natural driving feel with no sense of discomfort.

Mazda introduced i-stop on the all-new Mazda Axela*1 (known overseas as the Mazda3), which launched in Japan in June 2009. The new Axela with i-stop offers approximately 15 percent improved fuel economy compared to the previous model when tested under Japan’s 10-15 mode test cycle.*2 Axela models with i-stop also qualify for Japan’s eco-car incentive program as well as tax reductions of 75 percent under the government’s eco-car tax reduction program. Almost half of the total Mazda Axela sales volume in Japan to date has been for i-stop models.*3

‘Prius Plug-in Hybrid’ Lease Discussions Begin in Japan

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Tokyo—TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces that it has started discussions with potential users in Japan of the newly developed “Prius Plug-in Hybrid”. Approximately 200 units will be leased through a leasing company to designated parties such as government ministries, local governments and energy companies that are actively promoting environmentally considerate vehicles.

The designated parties are principally participants in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “EV & PHV Towns” program1, which aims to promote the widespread use of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs).

Details of the leasing scheme for Japan will be determined through November, with delivery scheduled for mid-December onward. The vehicles will only be leased to parties already designated by TMC.

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid is based on the third-generation “Prius” and is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that can be charged using an external electric power source. The vehicle can be used as an EV for short distances, while for medium- and long-distance trips it functions as a conventional gasoline-electric hybrid, meaning use is not constrained by remaining battery power or availability of battery-charging infrastructure. Furthermore, PHVs, such as the Prius Plug-in Hybrid, are expected to achieve higher fuel efficiency than conventional hybrid vehicles, limit consumption of fossil fuels, and reduce CO2 emissions and atmospheric pollution.

TMC believes that, to meet the diversification of energy sources, PHVs are currently the most-suitable environmentally considerate vehicles for widespread use. TMC is therefore encouraging PHV market introduction and understanding toward widespread use by introducing a total of 500 units of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid globally—primarily to fleet customers. Approximately 150 units will go to the United States, and more than 150 units will go to Europe, to countries including France, the United Kingdom and Portugal.

TMC has positioned hybrid technologies as core environmentally considerate vehicle technologies and is using them in the development not only of plug-in hybrid vehicles but also electric vehicles and fuel-cell hybrid vehicles. TMC will continue its efforts in developing and putting into practical use these next-generation vehicles, which are hoped to contribute to reducing petroleum consumption, reducing CO2 emissions and responding to the diversification of energy sources.

1An intensive model program, through the collaboration of the national and local governments, regional businesses and auto manufacturers in Japan, for the introduction and promotion of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles as well as for accelerating the setting up of charging infrastructures and the development of societal awareness and preparedness. Each participating local government is to submit by around the end of this financial year a master plan that reflects the progress of its action plan.
